크리스탈 호수에서 살인 사건이 발생하자 경찰은 시체를 회수하던 중 반쪽만 가면을 쓰고 숨진 살인범 제이슨의 시체도 발견 병원 시체실로 옮긴다. 그러나 죽지 않은 채 잠시 의식만 잃었던 제이슨은 다시 살아나 시체실 담당 직원과 간호원을 살해한다. 그리고는 복수의 화신이 되어 크리스탈 호수로 돌아온다. 크리스탈 호수에 휴가차 온 자비스 부인(조안 프리만 분)과 딸 트리쉬(킴버리 벅 분), 아들 토미(코리 펠드만 분)는 옆집에 새로운 젊은이들과 즐겁게 생활하던 중 다시 한명의 젊은이 랍(E. 에릭 앤더슨 분)이 나타나면서부터 사고가 일어나기 시작한다. 옆집의 젊은 사만다(주디 아론슨 분)와 폴(알란 헤이스 분), 그리고 랍이 살해 당하지만 트리쉬와 토미는 결사적으로 싸워 정신병자 제이슨을 죽이는데 성공한다. 부상과 엄청난 충격으로 병원에 요양을 하게된 남매, 그러나 누나와 뜨거운 포옹을 하는 토미의 눈빛이 섬뜩하다.
