음산하고 오래된 교외의 묘지에서 흡혈귀 릴리스가 부활한다. 살아있는 사람들의 신선한 심장을 먹으며 젊음을 유지하는 릴리스는 마을 외곽에 색다른 매춘 굴을 만들어 놓고 젊은 남자들을 유인한다. 바람둥이 캐일은 새로운 매춘 굴이 있다는 이야기를 듣고, 친구와 함께 그곳을 찾는다. 평범한 장의사 내부에 위치한 비밀통로를 통해 유곽으로 들어간 그들은 아름다운 여인들과 황홀한 순간을 맛본다. 하지만 그것도 잠시, 이들은 곧 릴리스에게 심장을 뺏기고 만다. 한편, 캐일의 누나 캐서린은 동생의 실종에 의문을 갖고, 사립탐정인 레이프와 함께 동생을 찾아 나선다. 조사 끝에 장의사 내에 숨겨진 은밀한 매춘 굴의 정체를 알아낸 레이프는 손님으로 가장해 들어갔다가, 그 곳에서 최근에 실종된 사람들의 시체를 발견한다. 다음날 레이프는 경찰과 함께 현장을 방문하지만 단서가 될만한 흔적은 아무 것도 없고 릴리스에게서도 별다른 혐의점을 찾지 못한다. 한편 동생 캐일로부터 어려움에 처해 있으니 도와달라는 전화를 받은 캐서린은 레이프와 함께 약속장소로 나간다. 하지만 뱀파이어로 변한 캐일은 다른 뱀파이어들과 함께 공격하기 시작한다. 가까스로 레이프는 이들을 따돌리지만 캐서린은 잡히고 만다. 뱀파이어들에게는 총도 별 소용이 없다는 것을 알아낸 레이프는 성수를 채운 물총으로 무장하고 릴리스의 본거지로 들어간다. 그리고 닥치는 대로 흡혈귀들을 향해 성수 물총을 쏘아댄다. 그런데 성수를 맞은 모든 흡혈귀들은 하나같이 녹아 없어지지만 우두머리인 리릴스는 갖은 재주를 부리며 오히려 레이프와 캐서린을 위협하는데...

Through animated montages, readings and interviews, this film guides us through the history of the medium from the late 1930s and 1940s with the first explosion of popularity with the superheroes created by great talents like Jack Kirby and hitting its first artistic zenith with Will Eisner's "Spirit". It then shifts to the post war comics world with the rising popularity of crime and horror comics, especially those published by EC Comics under the editorshiop of William B. Gaines until it came crashing down the rise of censorship with the imposition of the Comics Code. In its wake of the devastation of the medium's creative freedom, we also explore EC's defiant survival with the creation of the singular "Mad Magazine" by Harvey Kurtzman.
