Xia Zhi (by Xiao Shenyang) bluffs a lot. He is blowing hot air in his lover Xiao Xue's (by Ivy Chen) restaurant as usual. Meanwhile, Xia Zhi notices a group passes the restaurant. He tells that it must be a kidnapping case, but he doesn't expect the criminal member hear it. Criminal boss (by Andrew Lien) guesses Xia Zhi is the partner who hides the swag. They decide to kill him in case he exposes their secret. Lousy killers try to kill Xia Zhi several times but fail. The weirdest thing is when polices follow Xia Zhi to the crime scene. It looks like nothing had happened before. Can Xia Zhi provide the evidence to prove that his life is in danger?

Jing lives with her mother and grandparents in a small fishing village in a southern Chinese province. Despite an initial standoff, the three manage to open up and create an emotional tie that gives their lives new perspective. SONGS OF SILENCE tells in elegantly convoluted sequences of the meeting and separating of the three protagonists, each of which is isolated in their own way.

Zhang Yao, the leader of the Haidao vice squad, accidentally captured suspect Gao Fei, who used a fake ID. According to his confession, Gao Fei is a player of the online game "World of Warcraft" and he once met a beautiful young woman Ju Yue at a party. They began to date. One night, Cheng Tao, Lin Yan's husband, unexpectedly found the saucy chat record between Gao Fei and his wife. In a blaze of anger, he posted an anonymous letter online condemning them . His story drew more attention than expected. Net-friends started a "cyber manhunt" and the private information of Gao Fei and Ju Yue were posted online. They also issued a wanted circular for Gao Fei and Ju Yue. To protect his family and himself, Gao Fei lost his job and hid on an island with a fake ID. After Gao Fei left the police station, Zhang Yao answered a call that a headless female body was found on the dock.

중국 역사상 가장 황금기였던 당나라. 그러나 서기 859년, 당 왕조는 바야흐로 쇠퇴의 길에 들어서게 된다. 무능한 왕조와 부패한 대신들로 나라 전체가 불안에 휩싸이고 온 나라에 반란군이 들끓는다. 그 중 가장 이름난 반란조직이 바로 '비도문' (House of Flying Daggers)이다. 비밀조직인 비도문은 민중에게 관에 저항할 것을 호소하고, 자유를 추구하였다. 도성 근처에 위치한 팽 티안 지방에 출몰하는 비도문은 민중들을 혼란시키고, 관의 힘을 약하게 하여 지방 관리들에게는 그야말로 눈엣가시 같은 존재이다. 비도문이 관과 싸워온지 수년이 흐르고, 우두머리가 전투에서 살해당하게 된다. 하지만 이후에도 조직은 점점 세를 얻어간다. 결국 팽 티안 성의 관리인 레오(유덕화)와 진(금성무)은 열흘 안에 이 조직의 새로운 우두머리를 잡아오라는 명을 받는다. 레오는 인근지방 홍등가에 새로 나타난 무희인 메이(장쯔이)를 의심하게 되는데, 실은 그녀는 죽은 비도문 두목의 딸이다. 레오는 메이를 데려다 심문을 하지만 입을 열지 않자 다른 수를 꾸민다. 진으로 하여금 ‘풍’이라는 떠돌이 무사로 변장을 하게 해 메이를 감옥에서 구출한 뒤 그녀의 신임을 얻어내고 함께 '비도문'의 은신처로 떠나는 계획을 세운 것이다. 이들의 계획은 성공을 거둬 결국 진과 메이는 은둔처까지의 긴 여정을 함께 하게 되고 얼마 지나지 않아 메이는 베일에 싸인 자신의 동반자에게 점점 감정을 갖게 된다. 진 역시 메이의 매력에 흠뻑 빠져드는 자신을 발견하게 되고 둘은 서로의 감정을 부정하려 애쓰지만 그럴수록 그들의 마음은 더욱 더 서로를 갈망하게 된다. 그러나 처음의 계획과는 달리 진을 정말로 죽이려는 낯선 무사들이 나타나고 비도문은 점점 실체를 드러내는데... 진과 메이, 그들의 사랑은 진심일까?

B.C 300년, 중국은 제, 초, 연, 한, 조, 위, 진의 7개의 나라들이 전국시대을 맞이하고 있었다. 그중에서도 진의 세력은 북서로 넓게 퍼져 있는데다가 강한 군사력을 자랑하고 있었다. 진나라의 왕 영정은 진나라 대대로의 숙원인 천하통일을 향한 집념욕을 불태우고 있었다. 조나라 공주 조희는 진시황이 조나라의 인질이였던 어린시절부터 함께 자라온 사이. 그녀는 진시황에게 마음이 끌리지만 통일을 위한 잔혹한 살육이 반복되는 동안 자신의 고국인 조나라에도 그 영향이 미치지 않을까 걱정한다. 그래서 진시황을 증오하는 연나라의 태자 단을 사주해 진시황 암살에 착수케 하고 그것을 밝혀냄으로서 무혈로 연나라를 접수해 진의 통일을 이룬다는 책략을 진시황과 모의한다. 태자 단과 함께 연나라에 간 조희는 마을에서 어린 아이를 구하기 위해 사람을 죽인 남자를 만난다. 애수에 젖은 조용한 눈을 가진 형가라는 남자에게 그녀는 무어라 말할 수 없는 느낌을 갖게 된다. 그는 암살자로 이름을 날렸던 남자로서, 태자 단 또한 혈안이 돼 찾아 다녔던 남자였다. 그러나 그는 진 왕의 암살에 가담할 것을 거절한다. 한편 진 왕은 모친인 황태후가 애인인 로독과의 사이에 2명의 아이를 두고 있다는 것을 알게 되고, 분노한 그는 2명의 아이를 황태후의 눈앞에서 죽이고 장신후를 왕가의 혈통을 더럽혔다는 죄목으로 잔혹한 극형에 처한다. 죽음의 순간 장신후는 진 왕이 선왕(先王)의 아들이 아니며 친아버지는 재상인 여불위라는 말을 남긴다. 진시황은 여불위를 자결로 몰아간다. 진왕의 출생비밀을 알게 된 측근 번어기 장군은 조용히 연 나라로 망명한다. 장군의 탈주에 분노한 진 왕은 번어기의 목에 현상금을 건다. 진 왕은 드디어 조 나라를 공격한다. 진 왕의 잔인한 천하통일 계획은 차례로 실행되고 이를 저지하기 위한 암살계획은 그 수순을 밟아가는데....
