In 1839, months after the British army has repressed the insurrection of the Patriots, hundreds of rebels rot in prison. The morning of February 14, Marie-Thomas Chevalier De Lorimier and Charles Hindelang learn that they will be hung in 24 hours, with three other comrades. 1964년 초 가을 북극의 유전 지대. 노인 아빅은 폐인이 되어버린 이누이크족 에스키모이다. 아빅은 지도를 작성하러 이 마을에 들어온 젊은이에게서 자신이 함꼐 만들었던 지도를 발견하고 과거로 흘러들어 간다. 1931년 어린 아빅(Avik: 제이슨 스콧 리 분)은 북극의 끊임없는 설원에서 가죽 널을 뛰고 있었다. 요란한 비행기 소리와 함께 마을에 들어온 영국군 월터. 지도를 그리러 이곳에 온 그는 아빅이 결핵에 걸린 것을 발견하고 몬트리올로 이송해 치료받게 해준다. 백인혼혈이어서 운명적으로 반쪽은 백인의 몸이었던 아빅은 인생의 새로운 전기를 받게 되는 것이다. 안과 밖이 온통 백색인 병원, 아빅은 이방인이라는 소외감으로 환경에 적응하지 못하고 고독에 빠져버린다. 그러던 중 같은 병원에 입원한 소녀의 노래 소리를 듣고 마음의 위안을 받는데... 그 소녀가 인디언 혼혈이며 아빅과 사랑을 나누게 되는 알버틴(Albertine: 앤 빠릴로 분)이다. 그들은 이방인으로 양쪽 세계에 적응하지 못하는 공통점으로 인해 서로에게 빠져든다. 결국 알버틴이 백인으로 살아가길 원하는 원장수녀가 그들을 강제로 격리시키고...

Brooks is an eccentric rich kid, with a fondness for big band music, bow ties taking strange photographs who one day whilst stealing a mannequin from a clothes store, meets Anne, a free-spirited, young deaf girl who works in the shop.
