With the continuous arrival of migrants to Palermo (Italy), a councilor becomes the legal guardian of hundreds of children while also dealing with her own family problems.
A freshly married, harmonious couple - Patricia is Swiss, Ikendu is from Mali - is forced, as a result of the Ikendu's unexpected arrest, to deal with each other's dark sides, which is painful, but ultimately makes the relationship more mature.

Ayiva recently left his home in Burkina Faso in search of a way to provide for his sister and his daughter. He takes advantage of his position in an illegal smuggling operation to get himself and his best friend Abas off of the continent. Ayiva adapts to life in Italy, but when tensions with the local community rise, things become increasingly dangerous. Determined to make his new situation work he attempts to weather the storm, but it has its costs.
Inspired by real events, it tells the story of Ayiva, a young migrant worker who seeks to reunite with his best friend in the wake of the most significant race riot in Italian history.
