Gorgeous Antonia is on a dangerous downward spiral caused by an addiction to heroin when she meets Mike, a tough drifter who helps her score more smack. Although they're not attracted to each other initially, Antonia and Mike eventually give in to their growing feelings for each other. But this leads to a dilemma: How does Mike help the woman he now loves kick her addiction?

베니스의 가브리엘리 호텔에 우연히 오튼(Melvyn Orton: 더들리 무어 분), 호튼(Maurice Horton: 리차드 그리피스 분), 로튼이라는 영국인 세 사람이 같은 날 투숙한다. 오튼은 상사의 명령으로 집을 사러 온 사람, 호튼은 아내(Rosemary Horton: 앨리슨 스테드먼 분) 몰래 미팅을 하러 온 사람, 로튼은 살인을 하러 온 킬러다. 가브리엘리 호텔의 급사(Bellboy: 브론슨 핀초트 분)는 영어에 서툴러 오튼과 호튼과 로튼을 바로 구분하지 못하고 세 사람에게 온 배달물을 뒤바꿔 전해준다. 이제 오튼은 살인청부업자로, 호튼은 집을 사러 온 사람, 로튼은 미팅을 하러 온 사람으로 오해를 받는데 이들 세 사람은 어디서 어떻게 일이 꼬였는지를 모르고 있는데...
