Dennis Wyndham (15 January 1887 – 19 August 1973) was a South African film actor. He appeared in 47 films between 1920 and 1956. He was born in Natal, South Africa. On 23 May 1917 he married the actress Elsie Mackay and she performed as Poppy Wyndham throughout most of her stage and film career.

교회에 속해 있는 빈민층을 도와주는 구빈원이란 곳에서 한 여자가 올리버 트위스트(Oliver Twist: 존 하워드 데이비스 분)라는 사내 아이를 낳고 숨을 거둔다. 부모나 다른 친척의 신분을 전혀 모르는 상태로 구빈원에서 생활 기술을 배우는 도제로서 지내던 올리버는 불충분한 식사를 한 뒤, 더 달라고 요구를 했다가 미움을 사게 돼 장의사인 소우어베리씨 집에 팔려 가게 된다. 하지만 그 곳에서도 역시 올리버는 심한 학대를 받는다. 특히 자신의 어머니를 경멸하는 것에 분개해 자신보다 훨씬 큰 노아와 주인 여자에게 마구 주먹을 휘둘렀다가 매를 맞은 뒤 런던으로 도망을 친다. 런던에서 올리버는 도저라는 페이긴 수하의 소매치기를 만나고, 페이긴의 허름한 소굴로 가서 소매치기들과 같이 지내게 된다. 그러던 어느날 로저와 찰리의 소매치기에 대해 올리버가 누명을 쓰고 경찰에게 잡힌다. 하지만 소매치기를 당할 뻔 했던 노신사, 브라운로우씨의 간곡한 부탁으로 올리버는 무사히 풀려나고 브라운로우씨의 집에 가서 극진한 간호와 사랑을 받는다. 하지만 심부름을 나왔다가 올리버는 다시 창녀인 낸시와 도둑인 빌 사이크스에게 잡혀 페이긴의 소굴로 돌아오게 된다. 올리버의 인생이 결국 도둑질이나 하다가 끝나게 될 거란 사실에 올리버를 잡아온 낸시는 올리버를 감싸고, 올리버가 페이긴 소굴에서 빠져 나갈 수 있도록 브라운로우씨에게 정보를 제공한다. 이런 사실에 분개해 빌은 낸시를 때려 죽이지만... 결국 군중들과 경찰, 그리고 브라운로우씨가 올리버를 무사히 구출한다. 그리고 또한 올리버가 브라운로우씨의 손자라는 사실이 밝혀지고, 올리버는 다시 브라운로우씨의 저택으로 가서 행복한 생활을 하게 된다.
