7살 팔레스타인 소녀 와디는 난민캠프에서 태어나 가족과 함께 살고 있다. 그녀의 사랑하는 증조할아버지 시디는 1948년 고향에서 쫓겨나 캠프에 정착한 초창기 난민이다. 어느날 시디는 와디에게 갈릴래아에 있는 고향집 열쇠를 쥐어준다. 증조할아버지가 시디가 고향으로 돌아갈 수 있다는 희망을 잃어버린 것 같아 와디는 두려웠다. 캠프에서 희망을 놓아버린 증조할아버지를 위해 와디는 가족들의 증언을 모으기 시작한다.
