Richard Sutherland (born Blacktown NSW, 3rd May 1971) is an established Australian actor. He has appeared in many well-known Australian dramas over the past 20 years, including roles in Killing Time, Rush, City Homicide, The Straits, McLeod's Daughters and award winning episodes of Police Rescue and Wildside. Richard plays Davo, a supporting lead role in the 2012 Australian drama, Bikie Wars: Brothers in Arms. His most recent film appearance was in Face to Face in 2012. He has also has appeared in highly acclaimed Australian films such as Red Hill (2009), Playing For Charlie (2008), Chopper (1999), and Muriel's Wedding (1993). Richard studied a Bachelor of Arts (Performing Arts) at Ballarat University College from 1989 -1991, and since graduating, regularly enjoys working on a variety of shows, notably a self-devised Ned Kelly Opus, Kelly's Reign (1995). Richard can be seen later in 2012 on stage in the Australian production, "Barassi".

Face to Face is adapted from David Williamson's play of the same name which is in turn based on the transcripts from real conflict resolution sessions. The story is about a young scaffold construction worker who is charged with assaulting his boss. By the end of the film, all our assumptions about guilt and blame are turned on their heads. As 10 people sit in a room discussing the turn of events that brought our protagonist to breaking point, twists and surprises reveal that all is not quite as simple as it seems. Michael Rymer directs his screen adaptation of 'Face to Face' (written by Australian playwright David Williamson), as an ensemble piece about 10 very dissimilar Australians bound together by a complex pattern of relationships and shared histories. Hysterically funny and deeply moving, each character's role in the drama peels back another layer as the story digs down to the roots of who these people really are.

차퍼(chapper: 도끼)라는 별명을 얻을 정도로 잔인하고 폭력적인 마크 리드는 범죄를 통한 자기만족과 우월의식에 쌓여있는 인물이다. 호주 멜버른의 한 교도소에 수감되어 있는 마크는 계획적으로 다른 죄수들과 잔혹한 파워 게임을 벌여나가지만 , 추종자들을 얻기는 커녕, 점점 더 경원과 멸시의 대상이 되어가고, 심지어 가장 친한 친구 지미에게까지 공격받기에 이른다. 생명의 위협을 느낀 마크는 한 동료를 부추겨 자신의 귀를 베어버리게 한 후, 다른 감옥으로 이감된다. 그리고 얼마 후 석방이 된 마크는 인간 쓰레기를 소탕해야된다는 망상에 사로잡힌 채 곳곳을 돌아다니며 잔혹한 살인 행각을 계속한다. 이처럼 사실과 환상의 경계를 오가며 세상과 부믿치던 마크는 결국 다시 감옥에 들어가게 되는데, 이때부터 타고난 이야기 실력을 발휘하여 자신의 삶과 범죄 행각에 대한 책을 쓰기 시작한다. 자서전이 출판되면서 마크는 드디어 명성과 부를 거머쥐고, 호주 사회의 전설적인 범죄자라는 악명을 얻기에 이른다.
