Carnaby Street Undressed is a story of fashion, music and eye opening insights into London's Carnaby Street in its 1960s heyday, told by the owners of the fashion shops that defined the iconic Street, and the popular musicians who were part of the “the scene”. This includes The Who lead sing Roger Daltrey, Donovan, Frank Allen from the Searchers, Gary Leeds from The Walker Brothers, and Peter Noone from Herman’s Hermits. The film is the story of a generation that rebelled against the grey conformity of the 1950s with a cultural revolution emanating from Carnaby Street from where it spread across the globe changing fashion and music forever.

This documentary begins with Ken Russell posing the question: "What is a true English folk song, if there is such a thing?" After recieving an indifferent response from his dog, Ken journeys around the countryside of England searching for an answer. He bumps into and interviews such famous artists as; Donovan, Fairport Convention, Osibisa, Eliza Carthy, So What, Edward II and The Albion Band among others.

In August 1970, 600,000 fans flocked to the Isle of Wight to witness the third and final festival to be held on the island. Besides the music, they also got a look at the greed, cynicism and corruption that would plague the music industry for years to come. They also witnessed the final, drugged out performance of Jimi Hendrix in England just two weeks before he would meet a tragic death. When it all was over, the fans view of rock and roll was never the same.

국내에선 앞에 84를 빼고 '찰리 모픽'이란 제목으로 1990년 정우씨네마에서 비디오로 소개되었다. 1991년 11월호 영화월간지 로드쇼에서 꼽은 컬트 영화 100으로 선정되어 이걸 보고 비디오를 찾아본 경우도 많았다. 똑같이 베트남전을 소재로한 명작 풀 메탈 자켓도 국내 개봉할땐 앞에 풀을 빼고 '메탈 자켓'이라는 제목으로 개봉한걸 생각해보면 뭔가 묘한 우연인듯하다. 풀 메탈 자켓이 스테디캠을 사용해 현장감을 선보였다면, 84 찰리 모픽에 이르러 핸드헬드 영상으로 전쟁묘사에 한층 더 다가갔다. 이 작품 이 후 핸드헬드 기법으로 전쟁의 현장감을 정점으로 찍게된게 그 전설의 라이언 일병 구하기. 1969년 구정 공세 이후의 베트남, '84 찰리 모픽' 담당으로 파견된 주인공이 6명의 군인들을 따라가며 작전을 수행한다는 심플한 내용이다. 줄거리 보다는 현장감, 분위기에 많이 의존하는 작품으로 50분이 지나도록 전투한번 안일어난다든가 하는 식으로 연출했다. 하지만 소규모 상영으로 이뤄진 터라 흥행 수익은 15만 달러에 그쳤다. 감독인 던컨은 이후 홀랜드 오퍼스 같은 영화 공동 각본, 제작을 맡기도 했고 덴젤 워싱턴 주연 영화인 커리지 언더 파이어 각본을 맡았으며 엘비스 프레슬리를 다룬 TV영화 엘비스(2005)를 연출하기도 했다.

The plot revolves around two heirs, Prince Frederick (Barry Gibb) and his brother Prince Marmaduke (Maurice Gibb), and their dying father (Frankie Howerd). On his death bed, The King orders his kingdom divided into two halves, the Kingdom of Jelly and the Kingdom of Cucumbers. Before the king even dies, Prince Frederick declares himself "King of Cucumbers" and Prince Marmaduke becomes the “King of Jelly”. The film intersperses comedy sketches with Bee Gees songs plus performances by Lulu and Blind Faith with cameo appearances.

영화가 시작하면 평화롭게 아이와 지내는 것 같은 아름다운 조이(캐롤 화이트)의 모습을 보여준다. 까페에서 여유롭게 커피를 마시고 세상은 평화롭고 아무런 걱정도 없는 것 같다. 하지만 실상은 그렇지 못하다. 폭력을 휘두르는 남편과 불행한 결혼생활을 영위하던 조이는 남편이 절도로 감옥에 수감되자, 남편의 친구를 사귀며 행복을 맛본다. 아이도 잘 돌봐주고 여행도 다니며 마음도 잘 통한다. 하지만 그마저도 감옥에 들어가 버리고 생활을 위해 여러 직업을 전전한다. 이웃 아줌마 엠마(퀴니 와츠)가 아이도 돌봐주고 그러면서 어떻게든 생활은 꾸려가지만 늘 빠듯하다. 그러다 우연한 기회에 속옷 광고 모델로도 활동하게 되는데, 그러면서 알게 된 중년 남자와 또 부적절한 관계를 맺게 된다. 그것을 알게 된 남자친구는 그를 또 구타하게 되고, 조이는 늘 자신의 뜻대로 일을 풀어가지 못 한다. 그러면서 아이는 조금씩 성장해간다. 엄마의 가발을 가지고 놀 정도로 성장해가는 것이다. 하지만 조이의 형편은 앞으로 어떻게 풀려갈지 아무도 알 수 없다.

Black and white footage of performances, interviews, and conversations at the Newport Folk Festival, from 1963 to 1966. The headliners are Peter, Paul and Mary, Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, and Bob Dylan, who's acoustic and electric. Son House and Mike Bloomfield talk about the blues; John Hurt, Howlin' Wolf, and Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee show its range. The Osborne Brothers perform bluegrass. Donovan, Johnny Cash, Judy Collins, Mimi and Dick Farina, and others less well known also perform. Several talk musical philosophy, and there's a running commentary about the nature and appeal of folk music. The crowd looks clean cut.

Includes footage of The Living Theater in rehearsal, interviews with Julian Beck and Judith Malina, Donovan in concert and The Who in the studio recording 'Pictures of Lily'. Re-broadcast on INA in 1984.

In Liverpool there's a gang war between the Mods (who dress in the latest fashions and styles) and the Rockers (who are more into the '50s "greaser" look). Ricky, the son of a wealthy businessman, is a Mod guitar player, and in a gang fight with some Rockers, his girlfriend is killed. He leaves Liverpool for the continent and winds up in Rome, where he becomes involved with his father's mistress.

The films were made between 1964 and 1966 at Warhol's Factory studio in New York City. Subjects were captured in stark relief by a strong key light, and filmed by Warhol with his stationary 16mm Bolex camera on silent, black and white, 100-foot rolls of film at 24 frames per second. The resulting two-and-a-half-minute film reels were then screened in 'slow motion' at 16 frames per second.

This compilation of Gerard Malanga's short films consists of a collection of extremely rare footage and film portraits providing candid and interesting glimpses of Bob Dylan, Salvador Dalí, Jane Fonda and The Velvet Underground among other 1960s icons and featuring original music by Angus MacLise, who was the first drummer to perform with The Velvet Underground.
