A young filmmaker Ihor finds a hidden and unpublished photo archive of his grandfather Leonid Burlaka, a famous Soviet cinematographer. Discovering a man that he never knew well enough through the damaged pictures, he gets closer to his dementing grandpa, facing the tension between memory and forgetting.
Summer of 1945. The salute of the Great Victory died down and the country is gradually returning to peaceful life. From "fire yes into the fire" a young reconnaissance commander Volodya Sharapov falls, having come to the MUR for distribution, to the department for combating banditry. In the city the Black Cat gang rages, terrifying Muscovites. Captain Gleb Zheglov enters the fray with the bandits, for whom Sharapov soon becomes his right hand.
A participant in the war with the fascist regime, a Soviet soldier Chigorin, who bravely fought in Odessa, decides to return to the black sea city and walk through the memorable places where a lot of blood of brave defenders was shed for every inch of land. On the train, a random companion of the man becomes Katya, a charming young girl who asks Chigorin to tell about those events. Going headfirst into the memories, the former soldier begins his story, in which there is a place for selflessness, friendship, mutual assistance, love and heroism…
Spring, 1944. The Great Patriotic war. The German fascists are still in Sevastopol. A fierce combat is taking place there. At the same time in Yalta, which has already been freed, life goes on peacefully. People believe that the war has left them, that it is far away and no longer dangerous… But the torpedo motor-boat squadron stationed in Yalta is still having a hard time. Every day Soviet marines undertake dangerous sorties towards the German-occupied Sevastopol.
Based on the story of the same name by Yuri Nagibin. Sergei Voronov comes to the floodplains of the Dniester to hunt. He is here for the first time, and he is recommended by the huntsman Vasiliy, nicknamed "Newlywed". In the evening, by the fire, the men started talking about wives. Voronov's cynical views cause a protest from Vasiliy. He wants to go home. With irony, Voronov agrees to let the "Newlywed" go until morning. When Vasiliy returns, Voronov is surprised to learn that the huntsman has been married for over ten years. Over the years, Vasiliy did not lose his youthful enthusiasm, falling in love with his wife. Therefore, his fellow villagers called him "The Newlywed".
