이기적인 사촌 동생, 매사 피곤한 이모 가족들과 함께 사는 열세 살 소녀 구오는 상하이에 있는 재혼한 엄마에게 하루 빨리 가고 싶다. 구오는 강가에서 함께 RC 비행기를 날리던 친구가 익사하자 너무 놀란 나머지 그 자리에서 도망치고 만다. 구오를 좋아하는 유는 그날, 구오가 그 자리에 있었다는 사실을 알고 있으며, 구오는 유의 관심이 부담스럽기만 하다.
