From her first failed marriage, she has two children: Umar whose wife is Risma. Risma is a typical daughter-in-law, cynical and is not in a good relationship with Ummi’s family. Risma is always worried that Umar’s family will take advantage of their wealth. This often drives Umar over his edge so that he threateans to divorce Risma. Aisyah, the second daughter, is a housewife whose husband is Hasan, a middle level civil servant, with two little children.

Mbok, Rara's ailing grandmother and her father, Raga, do not have enough money to buy the window. So Rara and friends busk for money in the streets or rent out umbrellas on raining days. Meanwhile, in a luxurious housing complex in Jakarta, Aldo, 11-year-old boy, and slightly retarded, does not have any friends. Neglected by his rich father, Ratna Syahri, his grandmother, Nek Aisha, is his only comfort. One day, Aldo meets Rara when the car he is in, grazes her. They become good friends and she is the one he turns to when he flees from home after a quarrel with his brother.

Her daily cake sales are not enough, and her widower son Zein, merely hawks his paintings around the neighborhood. Zein sees her persistence, and wants desperately to realize Emak’s wish. But the unfinished problems of his failed marriage, makes him feel helpless. Meanwhile, Emak’s wealthy neighbor has gone for the Haj (the major Mecca pilgrimage) many times, as well as the Umrah (or the minor Mecca pilgrimage).

Tina is now wealthy, as well as Mak Wecek who becomes Tina’s manager.
