매일 밤 자기계발서 작가 메이의 집에 한 남자가 침입해서 메이를 죽이려고 하기 시작한다. 이 일로 메이는 남편 테드와 싸우고, 테드는 어디론가 떠나 버린다. 경찰은 남자를 잡으려고 하는 대신 테드에 관한 질문만 한다. 결국 메이는 혼자서 각종 방법으로 남자를 죽이지만, 남자는 늘 사라진 후 다음 날 다시 나타나는데, 곧 메이는 자신뿐만 아니라 수많은 여자가 똑같은 일을 겪는다는 사실을 알게 된다.

어느날 동생 라일라(로렌 애슐리 카터)를 찾은 에드(딘 케이츠)는 막내 동생 마틴(브라이언 모벤트)가 무슨 일이 일어났음을 알려준다. 하지만 남매는 오랜 기간동안 서로 연락을 안하고 지내던 사이. 그렇게 오랜만에 마틴을 찾은 남매는 그의 산장에서 이상한 기운을 감지하게 된다. 그리고 이상한 행동을 보이는 마틴은 무언가로 부터 쫓기는 듯이 불안감에 떨고 있다. 사실 확인을 하려는 에드는 마틴으로 부터 무슨 일이 있었는지 알아내려 하지만, 마틴은 자신으 군 실험의 희생자였으며 그 실험물의 결과물은 포드가 자신을 공격하려 한다는 말만 늘어놓을 뿐이다. 마틴의 PTSD(각주1)가 점점 심해지고 있음을 확인한 에드는 라일라와 함께 마틴을 그의 주치의에게 데려갈 계획을 세운다. 그리고 방에 나타난 마틴은 '결국 우리는 모두 죽게 될 것'이라는 알 수 없는 말만 늘어놓고는 남매 앞에서 목숨을 끊고 마는데...
