아프가니스탄에서 탈레반에 납치된 여기자 엘자(다이앤 크루거). 그녀를 구출하기 위해 캡틴 코박(디몬 하운수)이 이끄는 최정예 프랑스 외인부대(L?gion ?trang?re)가 파견된다. 그러나 엘자만 구출하면 끝날 줄 알았던 단순한 임무는 철수팀과의 교신 두절로 인해 예상치 못했던 위험과 직면하게 된다. 엘자를 노리는 탈레반의 추격이 점차 거세지는 가운데, 외인부대원들과 엘자 일행의 위치를 파악한 탈레반은 총공격을 감행하고, 그들을 도와준 마을 사람들을 학살하려는데... 과연 이들은 엘자를 무사히 구출하고 본국으로 돌아갈 수 있을까?

They have to study the bill of separation of the Churches and the State. This law, which founded laicity in France, was adopted on December 9, 1905.

A ten year old girl is received by her aunt because of her mother's confinement to a mental hospital. But the aunt lives with a man, Jean-Pierre, who seems to be a little too nice with the girl...

What there is of a plot in this drama serves mainly as a vehicle for the exploration of character. In the story, Michel (Bernard-Pierre Donnadieu) is a recent widower. As the story opens, he and his friend Andre (Philippe Nahon) are sharing a drink on Christmas Eve. He takes a yellow scarf from a woman he knows (Laura Morante) and teasingly refuses to return it. Throughout the remainder of the film, the scarf reappears, as does the woman, until they wind up in bed together at the end of the film. Before that happens, Michel wanders around Paris, viewing the festivities with a jaundiced eye which serves to heighten the unattractiveness of those he observes. Later he has dinner with a group at Andre's house, and his poor opinion of human nature is amply supported by the events that occur then.

디즈니랜드로 가장한 갱스타 미티 형제들은 부다페스트에서 홀드업을 한탕 치르고 빠리행 기차에 오른다. 기차에서 연극배우인 사촌을 찾아가던 레옹과 만나 그들은 친구가 된다. 미키는 빠리에 도착 후 브냉 형제집을 찾아가 애인 마리를 빼앗고 둘의 약혼 축제를 벌이며 일대소란을 피운다.

프랑스 리비에라 해안, 아들과 함께 해수욕 중이던 딕 다이버(제이슨 로바즈)는 일광욕을 즐기던 여배우 로즈마리(제니퍼 존스)를 만나 인사를 나눈다. 그리고 밤에 벌어진 파티에 그녀를 초대해 또 만나게 된다. 그렇게 두 사람은 점점 가까워진다. 딕 다이버는 대부호의 딸인 니콜 워렌(조안 폰테인)의 정신질환을 치료하다가, 그녀의 매력적인 미모에 사랑을 느껴 결혼했고 지금까지 남편과 의사로서의 역할을 감당해왔다. 그런데 이들 부부 앞에 로즈마리가 나타나면서 관계가 흔들리게 된 것이다. 결국 딕과 로즈마리는 사랑에 빠지게 되고 딕은 유부남으로서 심각한 가치관의 혼란을 겪는다. 이후 건강을 되찾은 니콜은 자신을 사랑하는 토미(세자르 다노바)와 재혼을 하게 되고 딕은 그녀로부터 버림받는다. 원작은 바로 대문호 F 스콧 피츠제럴드가 자전적 경험을 바탕으로 7년 만에 완성한 다. 만큼의 인기를 얻은 작품은 아니지만 그의 영혼과 신념이 담긴 소설이고, 1차 세계대전 이후 기존 가치가 붕괴되는 암울한 역사적 전환기가 겹쳐지면서 정신적으로 표류하는 한 남자의 삶을 들여다본다. 헨리 킹 감독은 피츠제럴드가 임종을 맞기 직전의 순간을 옮긴 전기영화 을 만들었을 정도로 피츠제럴드에게 관심이 많았으며 역시 원작에 충실한 작품이다.
