15살 자폐아 타이슨은 홈스쿨을 그만두고 일반 고등학교로 진학하기로 한다. 물론 그 결심은 부모들의 몫이다. 타이슨이 입학한 학교는 마침 타이슨의 아빠가 학교 풋볼 코치이다. 그것도 명성이 아주 높다. 매년 학교 결승전에 진출할 정도로 실력이 뛰어난 팀이기 때문이다. 타이슨의 학교생활은 짐작하는 대로, 다른 사람을 인정하지 못하는 아이들, 즉 차별하는 아이들 때문에 타이슨은 쉽게 학교에 적응하지 못한다. 아빠의 풋볼팀 정리를 도와주다가 마라톤 챔피온 아킬루를 만난다. 아킬루는 자폐증은 자신의 목표를 이루는 데에 걸림돌이 아니라고 일깨워준다. 아빠에게 남자로 인정받고 싶은 타이슨은 마라톤에서 우승하고 싶은 목표를 세운다. 그런 아들을 지켜보는 아빠는 불안하다.

An unexpected blizzard threatens the Parton family, while at the same time Dolly's father (and his kids) make sacrifices to raise enough money to finally buy his wife the wedding ring he could never afford to give her. This once-in-a-lifetime movie special takes place inside the tight-knit Parton family as they struggle to overcome devastating tragedy and discover the healing power of love, faith and a raggedy patchwork coat that helped make Parton who she is today. The film is set in the Tennessee Great Smoky Mountains in 1955. It is neither a biopic nor a musical about Dolly's whole life and performing career, but rather a family-oriented faith-based story about the incidents in her and her family's life around the time she was nine years old.
