Laid-back private eye Jim Rockford and his brown Pontiac Firebird become embroiled in another case when he runs across an old flame, blind book editor Megan. Her no-good playboy cousin Patrick is involved with the Russian Mob, which puts everyone's life in danger. Hollywood beckons for recent film school grad Nick Chapman, who is out to capitalize on the momentum from his national award-winning student film. The story happens mainly around "The Old Arbat Street" in the center of Moscow, where always concentrate vendors, poor young artists and musicians. The hero of this film is a boy named Mitiya,who lives with eccentric elder friend in an apartment house on "The Old Arbat". In fact, people who then appear around Mitiya are all unique, eccentric and the space of the apartment house begins to have an unrealistic character as a miniature of unstable society in the end of Soviet Union.

소련 KGB와 미국 정보부 CIA의 대결을 그린 액션물로, 쟝 끌로드 반담이 악역으로 출연하고 있다. 미-소간의 냉전 기류가 팽배해 있을 무렵, 미국의 F-3 전투기 한 대가 지중해 상공에서 실종된다. 그러자 블라디미르 대령(Vladimir Klimenko: 블라디미르 스코마로브스키 분)과 안드레이(Andrei: 쟝-끌로드 반담 분)가 이끄는 소련의 KGB가 이 전투기에 정착된 레이저 폭탄유도장치를 훔치기 위해 작전을 개시한다. 안드레이는 고도의 무예를 익힌 자. 이미 수사 요원 한명이 그에게 희생된 바 있는 미국의 CIA에서는 아프가니스탄에서 반군을 지원하고 있는 검은 독수리 '블랙 이글' 켄 타니(Ken Tani: 쇼 고스끼 분)에게 도움을 요청, 급히 소환하게 된다.

출판사 변호사인 댄(마이클 더글러스 분)은 매력적인 아내(앤 아처 분)와 귀여운 아이를 둔 행복한 가장이다. 어느날, 파티에서 우연히 만난 부편집장 알렉스(글렌 클로즈 분)의 매력에 이끌리게 되는데, 며칠 후 아내와 딸이 친정에 간 주말, 출판사 회의에서 그녀를 다시 만나게 된다. 서로에게 이끌려 관계를 맺은 그들. 댄은 알렉스가 자고 있을 때 메모만 남겨두고 떠난다. 그러나 댄에게 전화를 건 알렉스는 임신 사실을 고백하며 반위협, 반애원조로 집요하게 매달리는데...

디스커버리호 사고로부터 9년이 지난 2010년. 사건 당시 계획 책임자였고 미국 우주 비행학회 의장을 지낸 플로이드 박사(Heywood Floyd: 로이 샤이더 분)는 냉전 상태에 있는 미국과 소련 정부를 설득해서 하나의 모험을 시도한다. 자신을 비롯 HAL올 만든 챈드러 박사(R. Chandra: 봅 바라반 분), 디스커버리호의 재생훈련을 받은 엔지니어 등 3명의 미국인이 목성탐사를 떠나는 소련의 우주선 네오노프호에 동승한다.긴장감이 흐르는 가운데 목성의 위성인 에우로버근처를 통과할 때 무인 탐사기가 생명체를 발견한 직후, 미지의 힘에의해 박살된다.

In the surreal aftermath to a plane crash at sea Dr. Iven an eminent scientist is the only survivor to be taken into the confidence of the alien rescuers. He learns that the world with its weapons of mass destruction is not ready for the wonders of the culture of the pacifist visitors. The situation is further complicated by the close relationship that blossoms between the doctor and the female alien, and due to this relationship he is the only survivor allowed to retain his memory of the events, unlike the other survivors including his wife, whose memories are erased.

This ideologically charged film as a typical sample of Soviet version of history portrays the events in Ukraine in 1921 after the defeat of Ukrainian liberation struggle and the occupation of the country by invading Bolshevik hordes. The Bolsheviks are good guys and Ukrainian rebels refusing to submit to a new, this time Soviet, slavery are portrayed as bandits and brigands fighting against their own people.

The film is about microbiological scientists who are exploring the causes and mechanisms of the action of oncological diseases, looking for ways to fight this insidious and dangerous disease for humans.
