The story of Zarkana takes place in abandoned theater where the main character Zark was a successful magician many years ago. Since then, he has lost his magic and his stage assistant Lia. Zark goes through the theater encountering in search of his stage assistant Lia and reignite his magic.

As part of its 30th anniversary, and for the first time in its history, Cirque du Soleil will present a truly unique, exclusive music event celebrating 30 years of music. Music has always been a central character in Cirque du Soleil shows. It accompanies the artists, punctuates the performance and triggers emotions. The 75-minute concert will pay tribute to the music of Cirque du Soleil and will feature a choir of 70 voices (under the artistic direction of Gregory Charles) and 6 soloists accompanied by 28 musicians. The audience will hear singers Paul Bisson, Audrey Brisson-Jutras, Dominic Dagenais, Estelle Esse, Mathieu Lavoie, Anna Liani, Francine Poitras and Roxanne Potvin interpret some of the songs that have defined the music of Cirque du Soleil shows of the past 30 years.

Zarkana is a Cirque du Soleil stage production written and directed by François Girard. It began as a touring show in 2011 and was converted to a permanent show in Las Vegas in late 2012. It premiered at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on June 29, 2011 and later toured to the State Kremlin Palace in Moscow and the Madrid Arena in Madrid. Following Zarkana's successful run in Moscow, it was announced that the show would start residency at the Aria Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. The show replaced the Cirque du Soleil resident production Viva Elvis, which closed in August 2012 at the Aria Resort. Zarkana by Cirque du Soleil is about a spirited journey through an abandoned theater where an extraordinary circus comes back to life. Populated by a motley collection of off-the-wall characters and incomparable acrobats, Zarkana is a visual vortex set in a twisted acrobatic fantasy universe where, little by little, chaos and craziness give way to a true celebration.

트럼펫과 현란한 바이올린 선율이 정적을 깨면 코르테오의 막이 오른다. 지상에서 난쟁이들이 묘기를 펼치고 하늘에서는 천사들이 외줄에 몸을 맡긴 채 날아다닌다. 고난도의 아크로바틱, 패션쇼를 연상시키는 발레, 오페라 가수를 능가하는 연기자들의 가창력까지 모두가 조화된 환상의 무대가 펼쳐진다. ‘코르테오’는 이태리어로 예식 또는 행렬을 의미한다 어릿광대의 상상이 빚어낸 즐거운 향연과 축제 분위기가 가득한 퍼레이드로 구성된다. 배우들의 열정과 곡예가 어우러진 코르테오는 지상과 천상을 아우르는 초현실적인 공간을 무대로 펼치지며 극 형식의 즐거움과 웃음이 가득한 세계로 관객을 안내한다. 광대는 자신의 장례식을 상상한다. 카니발 축제 속에서 거행되는 장례행렬을 수호천사들이 내려다 본다. 큰 것과 작은 것의 조화, 희극과 비극의 공존, 코르테오는 완벽함과 미완을 같은 공간의 위치하게 하면서 어릿광대의 강인한 면모와 섬세한 내면을 표현한다. 슬기로우면서도 한편으로는 순한 성격을 필두로 우리 모두에게 내재된 인간성을 그려낸다. 코르테오의 서정성 가득한 음악이 시공을 초월한 축하연에 경쾌한 리듬을 더할 때 마침내 비현실은 현실이 되고 축제는 일상이 된다. 태양의 서커스 무대 중에서도 스토리가 있어 여러 퍼포먼스 전개가 자연스럽고 한편의 뮤지컬을 보는 것과 같은 느낌을 준다.
