AUTUMN tells the story of Charles and Margaret Denham, living in disarray in the decaying ancestral home with ancient Uncle Harry and senile Nanny. Their son Robert returns to England after several years abroad and finds that both the house and its occupants have faded from past glory. When an opportunity to sell the burdensome property arises, Robert leaps at the chance to help his parents downsize.

It’s “Wakes Week” in Hindle; the mill is closed and the workers are idle. Fanny Hawthorn is relaxing at the seashore with a girlfriend when she runs into Alan Jeffcote, the mill owner’s son. Alan takes Fanny to an hotel in Wales for a few days of fun, but the fun stops when their parents find out.

아론과 에덴, 제이슨은 테이트 대학의 동기로 캠퍼스 내 언더그라운드 파티에 참석한다. 약과 술에 취해 파티를 즐기던 이들에게 다음날 청천벽력 같은 소식이 들려온다. 제이슨이 끔찍한 몰골의 변사체로 발견되고 아론과 에덴이 유력한 용의자로 지목된 것. 생물학자인 리든 교수는 자신의 학생들을 믿고 이들이 무죄임을 증명하려 애쓴다. 검시소에서 제이슨의 시체를 살펴본 리든 교수는 어떤 동물의 짓인지 확신할 수 없지만 인간의 짓은 아니라고 확신한다. 그러던 중 또 다른 변사체가 발견되고 역시 온몸에 물린 자국과 피를 빨린 흔적이 남아 있다. 덕분에 아론과 에덴은 무죄로 풀려나고 리든 교수를 돕기로 한다. 사체에서 박쥐의 배설물을 발견한 리든 교수는 환경적 요인에 의해 만들어진 돌연변이 박쥐가 틀림없다고 확신하며 박쥐를 생포하여 관찰한다. 리든 교수와 학생들은 근처 폐기물 처리장에서 무단 투기한 오염 물질이 포악한 살인귀인 흡혈 박쥐를 탄생시켰다는 사실을 알아내고 이들을 박멸시킬 방법을 연구하는데...
