A young woman, an experienced gambler, enters a nunnery to atone for some of her father's crimes. When the nunnery runs into debt, she resorts to gambling and challenges the racketeer threatening to sell the place to a game.

죠슈의 구보타 일가가 운영하는 도박장에서 구보타의 동생 이노스케가 건 사기로 위기에 처한 야노 오류는 유기의 도움으로 화를 며한다. 아버지의 법요 때문에 규슈로 돌아가야 하는 오류는 권진 도박의 개최일까지 돌아올 것을 약속하고 유기와 헤어진다. 한편 근처 군에서 세운 무기 공장 때문에 주변의 농민들은 공해로 괴로워하고 있는 중이다. 유기는 농민들을 대표하여 공장과 교섭, 보상금을 받아낸다. 그러나 공장과 연결되어 있는 도미오카 일가가 공장장과 군의 감독관과 결탁, 보상금을 착복, 유기를 살해하고, 상복의 오류가 도미오카에게 정의를 심판한다.
