1939: Rome stands on the brink of World War II. In the midst of this political and social tension famed producer Davide Rieta is making a major film. The two lead actors, the German woman Kristina Baumgarten and the English man James Clavel ace each others' initial antagonism and eventually fall in love. Meanwhile the fascist police are looking for an excuse to arrest the Jewish filmmaker and any other potential "troublemakers." The producer and his crew decide to make one final extraordinary effort to complete the film - against all odds.

This short time gives fresh heart to those hiding here and kindles hope in their tortured souls to live for another day. This mysterious power is none other than a beautiful song that can be heard at such times from the villa's tower room.

"이 노래의 저주를 받은 거야. 글루미 썬데이의 저주를..." 60년 전. 오랜 꿈이던 레스토랑을 경영하는 자보(조아킴 크롤 분). 그의 사랑스러운 연인, 일로나(에리카 마로잔 분). 레스토랑에서 연주할 피아니스트를 구하려는 그들에게 한 남자가 찾아왔다. 강렬한 눈동자의 안드라스(스테파노 디오니시 분). 그의 연주에는 특별한 매력이 있다. 결국 자보와 일로나는 안드라스를 고용하게 되고... 일로나의 생일. 자신이 작곡한 ‘글루미 썬데이’를 연주하는 안드라스. 일로나는 안드라스에 대한 사랑을 확인한다. 그날 저녁 독일인 손님 한스(벤 베커 분)가 일로나에게 청혼하지만, 구혼을 거절하는 일로나. ‘글루미 썬데이’의 멜로디를 되뇌며 한스는 강에 몸을 던지고 그런 그를 자보가 구한다. 다음날, 안드라스와 밤을 보내고 온 일로나에게 말하는 자보. "당신을 잃느니 반쪽이라도 갖겠어." 자보와 안드라스, 일로나... 이렇게 셋은 이제부터 특별한 사랑을 시작한다. 한편 우연히 레스토랑을 방문한 빈의 음반 관계자가 ‘글루미 썬데이’의 음반제작을 제의한다. 음반은 빅히트를 하게되고, 레스토랑 역시 나날이 번창한다. 그러나 ‘글루미 썬데이’를 듣고 자살하는 사람들이 속출하자 안드라스는 죄책감에 괴로워한다. 그런 그를 위로하는 일로나와 자보... 하지만 그들도 어느새 불길한 느낌에 빠지게 되는데...

Three sisters - voluptuous Vida, Maria (nicknamed "Sissy"), and Ludmilla - live together in a run-down apartment building in Budapest. The sisters all vie for the attentions of Yuri Petkov, a dubious middle-aged pimp who plays them off against each other.
