제2차 세계대전 동안, 프랑스 상공에서 10,000대 이상의 연합군 비행기가 추락했다. 고급 전투요원들인 조종사들을 다시 영국으로 보내기 위해 1943년 연합군과 레지스탕스는 '쉘번 네트워크'를 설립한다. 쉘번 네트워크는 게슈타포의 눈을 피해 조종사들을 이동시키는 '쉘번 이스케이프 라인'을 만들고 독일 점령지의 한가운데에서 접선 지점인 플로하, 코트 뒤 노르의 브르타니 해안까지 조종사 구출작전을 시도하게 된다. 요원들의 자유를 향한 의지와 용기에 2차 세계대전 연합군의 승리가 좌우되는 것이다.
