During his practice he stumbles onto the murder of the Abbot as the Shaolin Temple and the kidnapping of the elder monk Do-Lim. A string of pearls found in the hands of the murdered Abbot is the only clue that leads Li-Siu to the Silver-Fox, the murderer and sinister mastermind of a deadly plot to invade China. Li-Siu confronts the evil Silver-Fox and his henchmen and challenges them to the deadliest battle in the history of Martial Arts!

한국고유의 토속적인 무속마을에 제사굿이 행해질 무렵 한네라는 여인이 선녀당에서 죽음을 기도하다가 머슴 만영의 구원을 받는다. 만영이는 한네에게 애정을 쏟지만 마을에서는 제사굿에 부정이 탄다고 쫓아내자고 한다. 마을에서 제사가 한창 진행중일 때 탈을 쓴 재수 마님 윤필주가 한네를 범하고 마는데, 과거에 만영의 어머니도 윤필주의 욕정의 재물이 되었던 것이다. 한네는 필주사건으로 선녀당에서 떨어져 죽으며, 자신이 필주의 아들임을 알게 된 만영도 한네의 뒤를 따라 선녀당에서 죽음을 택한다.

남로당과는 별개의 조직을 갖고 있는 김종원 - 이를 눈에 가시처럼 여기던 김삼룡은 심복부인 임충자와 그 오빠 임충복을 시켜 새로운 직책과 지령을 주고 특별수사본부 최운하 과장에게 정보를 제공, 습격케한다. 용케 빠져나온 김종원은 공산주의와 남로당에 회의를 느끼고 최과장에게 협력하며 김삼룡의 조직을 하나 둘 파괴한다. 그러던 중 임충자를 체포하나 놓치고만다. 한편 임충복도 꼬리를 잡혀 남로당 조직 제거에 협력한다. 특별수사본부는 김종원에게 임충자의 체포에 협조해 줄 것을 종용, 김종원이 지리산 빨치산 사령관 임충자를 체포해줄 것을 약속하나 이미 그녀는 싸늘한 시체가 되고만다. 김종원에게 법정은 사형선고에서 무죄선고를 내린다. 모든 것을 상실한 김 종원의 모습에서 삶의 의욕은 이미 상실되었다.
