Meanwhile, Mayu's uncle Uchida Kazuki is a freelancer writer. He chases after the hideous monster Yoshie who attacks people. Kazuki receives a phone call that his niece Mayu ran away. He begins a search for her and finds her cellphone on a mountain path. He sees Yoshie's picture on her cellphone.

이야’라는 마을의 작은 오두막에서 사는 노인과 소녀의 삶은 바깥 세계의 생리와는 담을 쌓았다. 묵언수행이라도 하는 양 이름 없는 묵묵히 소녀를 지키던 노인이 사망하자 하루나는 상실감에 이야를 벗어나 도시로 떠난다. 스물여덟 살의 청년 감독 츠타 테츠이치로는 이마무라 쇼헤이나 신도 가네토가 만든 고전 일본영화를 보고 있는 것 같은, 옛날영화의 향취를 살려낸다. 스토리만큼이나 중요한 것은 바로 이야의 풍경으로 상당 시간이 아름다운 자연을 보여주는데 할애되며 ‘이야’는 자연과 인간이 합일된 유토피아적 세계로 설정되었다. 자연 이미지의 힘을 앞세운 가와세 나오미의 영향력이 짙게 느껴지는 영화로, 가와세 나오미는 특별출연으로 얼굴을 내밀고 있다. 버려진 아이를 품은 산골 노인이 자신의 생을 다하기까지 세상에 남겨 놓은 것들은 지금 세계가 상실한 가치를 일깨운다. 사라져가는 것들에 대한 이야기라는 모티프에 걸맞게 사라져가는 35mm 필름으로 촬영했고, 시네마스코프의 너른 화면에 한 폭의 그림처럼 자연을 담아냈다

After the last rehearsal, the guitar player announces his decision to quit to his friend, the singer and front man of the band, but he is not willing to accept it.
