미국 챔피언 레슬러 ‘딜런 맥과이어’는 친구들과 즐거운 시간을 보내던 도중 우연한 사고로 경찰이 사망하는 사건과 관련되면서 15년 형을 선고 받는다. 10년 형기를 마치고 가석방된 그는 사채업자로부터 시달리는 친구의 목숨을 살려주는 대가로 보호장치 없이 창살 안에서 벌어지는 이종격투기 대회에 참가하게 된다. 한번도 해본 적 없는 이종격투기, 세 경기를 이겨야만 친구와 자신의 목숨을 살릴 수 있는 불가능해 보이는 일을 동의한 그는 자신을 바라봐주는 사람들을 위해 고독한 훈련을 시작하게 된다. 그러나 서로간의 이익을 위해 비리가 만연한 부정 경기들을 목격하게 되고, 자신의 주변사람들이 고통을 당하는 모습을 보면서 절망감에 휩싸인다. 자신과 친구, 그리고 주변사람들의 행복을 위해서는 무조건 경기에서 이겨야 하는 상황. 불가능해 보이는 일을 해내야 하는 ‘딜런 맥과이어’, 과연 그는 끝이 보이지 않는 싸움에서 승리를 얻을 수 있을 것인가?
