약력

Ana Maria Hermida is an award winning writer, director and producer from Colombia. She graduated with honors from The School of Visual Arts and her thesis film El Elefante Rojo won for Outstanding Achievement in Directing and Outstanding Film of the Year at the Dusty's Film Festival organized by SVA. It was also an official selection on HBO's New York International Latino Film Festival, The Indie Spirit Film Festival, Guanajuato Film Festival, among others. La Luciérnaga is Hermida's first feature film. It was nominated for Best Foreign Film, Best Leading Actress and Best Supporting Actress in the Madrid International Film Festival in 2015. It was an oficial selection at the Atlanta Film Festival, Sarasota Film Festival, San Diego Latino Film Festival, Sydney Mardi Gras Film Festival, Festival Internacional de Nuevo Cine in La Habana, Cuba, among other. La Luciérnaga is being distributed by Media Luna Films.

Magdalena is a young girl who lives in a brothel in the heart of Bogota-Colombia. On the night of her 15th birthday she gets her first client; 77 year-old Eduardo has paid to see her sleep naked. She is supposed to take a sleeping potion and sleep through his presence but, forgetting this task, she pretends to be asleep. Over the course of several visits, Magdalena begins to fall in love with Eduardo, never having opened her eyes to see him. As she realizes her mistake, Eduardo teaches her something that will help her cope and become the woman that she has always wanted to be.
