헌신적이고 상냥한 간병인인 이치코는 오랫동안 오이쇼가의 할머니를 돌보면서 큰 딸 모토코와 친 가족 같은 관계로 지낸다. 우연히 모토코의 여동생 사키가 실종되는 사건이 발생하고, 사건의 실체가 드러나면서 이치코는 곤란한 지경에 처하게 된다.

Her parents believe she is happy and successful in America and are unaware that she has secretly returned to Tokyo. Making the biggest decisions on the slightest whim, she moves back into the tenement street where she lived as a child. The move changes lives, reignites old romances and creates a supportive circle of love that may be exactly what Mitsuko needs.
