For Capt. Robert John Evans, smuggling black-market goods is nothing out of the ordinary. But one day he's hired by Aristides Mavros for a more involved assignment -- sneaking an imprisoned American out of communist-controlled territory. The job seems challenging enough, but when he meets the prisoner's sultry wife, Sylvia, he realizes his mission comes with a startling catch: Not only must he rescue this man, he must bring him back from the dead.
Because of his luxurious fur coat, a hammy actor becomes involved with crooks. His coat resembles the one that a gang's fence wears, and he is continually finding stolen jewelry in his coat pockets. When the gang learns that he is planning to turn the loot over to Scotland Yard, they go gunning for him and wound him while he is on stage performing 'Falstaff.' And, although wounded, he continues with his performance, trouper that he is that believes the show must go on, while the police are apprehending the gunmen.

2차대전 당시 상선의 선원이었던 에릭슨(Lt. 낭만적인 성격의 소유자인 짐은 모험을 즐기는 용감한 청년이다. 이런 짐 앞에 우연히 전설적인 해적 플린트 선장의 비밀스런 보물지도가 손아귀에 들어온다. 이 오래된 지도는 플린트 선장이 숨겨둔 보물을 찾을 수 있는 길이 표시돼 있는데, 정작 보물은 대양에서 사라진 한 섬에 숨겨져 있다. 무모해 보이지만 짐과 친구들은 한번 시도해 보기로 하고, 아름다운 배에 몸을 싣고 항해에 나선다. 하지만 그들이 타고 있던 배에는 해적들도 함께 승선해 있는데, 알고 보니 옛 플린트 선장의 수하들이다.
