C.W 니콜의 동명 원작을 에니매이션으로 영화화한 전쟁 판타지물. 제45회 아시아태평양영화제에서 최우수 애니메이션상을 수상했다. 신기한 능력을 가진 ‘바람의 민족’의 후예 마쯔에 아몬(안타츠 유미 목소리 분). 그 힘을 이용해 모든 나라를 자신의 것으로 만들려고 하는 독재자 브래닉(나이토 코지 목소리 분)에게 쫓기면서도, 아몬은 나라의 평화를 지키기 위해, 동료들과 함께 브래닉에 맞서 나간다.

In the new Calendar Year of 392, in Neo-Tokyo, a young man, Agino Jiro, steals a time synchronization system and tries to escape to the past. The authorities give chase and damage his ship in the pursuit, forcing him to land in modern day Tokyo, Determined, he breaks into a van and attaches the device, recklessly kidnapping Nobucho, Shinichi, Teko and their teacher, Hokubei. Their initial resistance force lands them in Tokyo on March 9th 1945, during the US bombing campaign. Escaping again to the past the group eventually arrives at the Warring States period. There the future and the past collide as factions from Jiro's era seek to alter their past at a pivotal moment at Honnoji.

고교 테니스부에 들어간 오카 히로미는 귀신코치 무나카타 진으로부터 재능을 보여, 엄격한 지도와 라이벌의 질투를 견뎌내면서 몸과 마음이 강인한 테니스선수로 성장해 가는 스포츠 드라마. 1973년부터 소녀만화잡지에 연재된 동명만화가 원작으로, 텔레비전 애니메이션으로도 동시에 방송되어 소녀들에게 압도적인 인기를 얻었다. 본 작품은 1970년대에 일본만화 애니메이션계에서 유행한 인내와 노력에 의해 자기를 성장시켜 가는 “스포츠 근성”을 다룬 대표작. 작년(2011년) 67세로 별세한 감독 데자키 오사무는 1970년대에 애니메이션에서 다채로운 표현 기법을 개척한 인물(대표작은 한국에서도 방송된 텔레비전 애니메이션「내일의 조」(1970). 본 작품에서도 리미티드 애니메이션 표현 기법을 대담하게 활용한 멈춤 그림과 스피디한 화면분할 그리고 극적인 순간을 강조하는 되풀이 기법 등 독창적인 연출이 여기저기서 보인다. 영화감독 오시이 마모루는 이 작품을 수 차례 보며 연출 기법의 기초를 배웠다고 한다

The plot follows Mimiko, a bright little girl left alone when her grandmother leaves on a trip. Making a few stops at some local stores, Mimiko comes home to her house in a bamboo grove and finds a baby panda named Panny sleeping on the back doorstep.
