Callum Andrew Johnston was born in 1991 in Crawley, West Sussex, to Natasha (Vincent), a homemaker, and Paul Johnston an Engineer. He grew up in the town he was born and began film making on the local streets at 17. Callum had already written and directed RH11 & Crossed Paths before he was 20 and received a full scholarship to attend the NYFA (New York film academy), but failed to graduate because he had to leave early for family reasons. Upon returning to the UK Callum began writing and directing Little District which premiered at the Cannes Film festival. Beginning his career in front of the camera it is at this stage Callum started to understand his passions burned to be behind the camera moving onto producing, writing & directing full time. His latest film The Forbidden Note is due for release early 2016, took 4 and half years to make. Callum worked 3 different jobs to help raise funds for the film and was also financially backed by 3 angel investors. The production was shut down for a whole year when it ran out of funds meaning the team had to match continuity with scenes filmed a year apart. The Forbidden Note touches a sensitive story which Callum is passionate about, having studied his subject for 9 months working with Imam's in Mosques and with the British Home office. Callum is a Vegan and prides himself on making content which will help inspire and change the way human beings see and love one another.
