터너(Turner: 키스 캐러딘 분)는 전쟁을 겪고 자신의 인생은 끝났다고 생각한다. 어느 날 산속에서 낚시를 하다가 알몸으로 수영을 하는 플로(Florence Irene: 헤일리 듀몽드 분)를 보자 둘은 서로에게 연민을 느끼게 된다. 플로는 그 산의 주인 행세를 하는 클레이모(Clayton Samuels: 버트 레이놀즈 분)의 딸이다. 클레이모는 부인이 죽은 후 아들인 재키리와 딸인 플로와 셋이 생활한다. 그 산에 오는 남자는 클레이모의 사냥으로 인해 죽게 되고 터너와 플로의 관계를 눈치 챈 클레이튼은 터너를 죽이려한다.
