But a bright and fair future, his art and literature were seen by everyone in different ways. Its truth became impossible, and the new world was not built in the way it was conceived. Demanding millions of lives for its existence, a brighter future took the life of the writer’s son, who was arrested at the age of fifteen, and then Andrei Platonov himself. Minsk, Belarus, 1996. Velya, an aspiring DJ, wants to move to Chicago to make her dreams come true, but bureaucracy, a phone line and the human condition will put obstacles in her way that will be difficult to avoid.

Artem is a timid and lonely young man. Every evening he goes to a shop near his house, buys groceries that are on special offer, collects stickers and dreams of winning a trip to France. One day he notices a new cashier — Evgenia, a beautiful young girl with a peculiar sense of humour. Despite the complexity of their characters, Artem and Evgenia find a common language and get closer.

Everybody sometimes lose their head — from love, or excessive alcohol consumption, or from a sense of their own grandeur. The film is about the day after a New Year’s office party at a small company that sells Chinese goods. For various reasons, all the characters have lost their head, or have never had a clear mind.

Viktor spends his free time trawling bars with ladies of questionable repute, from where he is picked up by a wife he doesn’t love, the mother of a child they never planned. Viktor himself was abandoned by his own father, his mother then committed suicide, and he was left to grow up in an orphanage. Years later, his errant dad returns, now a disabled felon, and Viktor discovers a timely legacy is in the offing – his father’s apartment. The documentation for securing dad’s move into an old people’s home is signed in a flash. Nevertheless, the only one that can take him is miles away and, what’s more, the invalid starts to recuperate during the journey, which is when their real problems begin.

The average Moscow taxi driver starts suspecting that there is something wrong with his clients, who keep going about the city. Mysterious destinations, strange motions, hysterical laughter, puzzling placement of the black bundle. The protagonist is intrigued which leads to an unpleasant discovery. It turns out that the world has long been taken over by “psyons” – psychological operators controlling human mind.
