문명과 동떨어진 깊은 숲 속에 위치한 어느 작은 공동체. 이곳은 사실 단 한 명의 남성 지도자와 다수의 여성들로 이루어진 사이비 종교 집단이다. ‘목자’의 가르침과 지시를 맹목적으로 따르는 ‘아내’들과 ‘딸’들 사이에서 셀라는 점차 이곳이 이상하다는 사실을 깨닫는다. 그리고 다소 잔혹한 결과가 따르더라도 자신의 의지를 밀어붙이려 한다.
