캐나다 소도시에 사랑하는 아내, 딸과 함께 남부러울 것 없는 일상을 보내는 외과의사 하멜. 어느 날, 등교 하던 딸이 실종되는 사건이 벌어지고 경찰과 함께 딸을 찾아나선 하멜은 성폭행 당한 채 싸늘한 주검이 된 딸을 발견하고 충격과 슬픔에 휩싸인다. 곧이어 한 남자가 용의자로 체포되고, 그의 만행에 분노한 하멜은 용의자를 납치한 뒤 경찰에 7일 후 그를 살해할 것을 예고하고 하멜의 복수를 막기 위한 경찰의 추격이 시작 되는데….
