마를레네는 기이한 악몽으로 계속 시달리던 중, 우연히 발견한 오래된 신문의 한 호텔 광고를 통해 악몽 속의 공간이 실재 한다는 사실을 알게 된다. 미지의 힘에 이끌리듯, 마을로 향한 그녀는 악몽의 실체를 알게 된 후 혼미와 무감각 상태에 빠져 병원에 입원한다. 엄마의 상태를 걱정하던 딸 모나는 직접 마을을 찾아가고, 레트로 풍의 호텔 주인 부부의 환대를 받지만 호텔은 어딘가 불안한 기운으로 가득하다. 그리고 모나 역시 악몽에 시달리면서 숨겨진 죽음의 실체에 가까워진다.

Julia moves with her family to the remote courtyard of her deceased sister. Despite the gruesome memory, she hopes for a reconciliation with her traumatic past. But for Julia her sister Jette remains omnipresent. She soon believes she hears her voice and increasingly has doubts about the alleged suicide. Julia tries to figure out what happened in the last days before Jette's death and identifies more and more with her. She believes that only one last desperate act can save them all. But evil has many faces.

In the late 19th century young radiologist Georg starts to experiment with the recently discovered X-Ray technology. At first his methods seem promising and his patients get better. Soon however, he plunges himself more and more into his work and must learn the true devastating nature of his treatments.
