홍콩에서 변호사로 성공한 린(임청하 분)에게 몇년전 자서기금을 횡령했다는 협박장이 날아든다. 린을 협박한 사람은 그녀가 신임했던 여비서 메이(왕소봉 분). 그러나 린은 전혀 눈치를 못챈다. 메이는 일확천금의 꿈으로 친구 퀴니(왕조현 분)에게 도움을 청한다. 캐니는 퀴니의 쌍동이 동생이다. 그러나 분노를 느낀 린은 협박자를 함정에 빠뜨리기 위한 방법을 신임하는 비서 메이와 의논하게된다. 계획이 실패할지도 모른다는 불안때문에 메이는 처음의 계획을 변경하여 린이 연회장에 간 사이를 틈타 퀴니를 린의 집에 보내 돈을 훔쳐오도록 게획한다. 마침내 린과 퀴니가 마주치게 되고 퀴니는 린에 의해 죽게 된다. 현장을 목격하게 된 키티는 어찌할 바를 모르다가 언니의 시체를 지하실에 숨긴다. 그때 흥분된 린의 전화를 받고 집으로 온 메이는 캐티와 마주치고 캐티를 퀴니로 오해해서 자신이 린의 함정에 걸렸다고 착각하게 된다. 메이는 캐티에게 떠나라고 경고한다. 욕심이 많은 캐티는 린의 돈을 훔치고 언니의 복수를 위해 다음날 린의 집으로 들어가는데....
