영국의 10대 소녀 올리비아는 부유층 자녀들을 가르치는 파 리 외곽의 작은 사립학교에 다니게 된다. 재학생들은 교장인 줄리와 교사 카라가 각각 맡고 있는 두 개의 기숙사에 나눠 생활하고 있다. 병약해 보이지만 수완이 보통이 아닌 카라는 줄리에게 병적일 정도로 집착을 보인다. 올리비아는 줄리와 사랑에 빠지고 만다. 이 둘의 관계를 알게 된 카라는 질투심 에 불타오른다.
