1959년 런던, 의사인 스티브 워드(Stephen Ward: 존 허트 분)는 영향력있는 고위층 친구들을 많이 둔 인물이다. 그는 웨스트 엔드 쇼에서 만난 쇼걸 크리스틴 킬러(Christine Keeler: 존안 휠리-컬머 분)를 자신의 집에 기거하게 하면서 퇴폐적이거나 사치스런 상류 사회에 데리고 다닌다. 크리스틴은 자신과 비슷한 처지인 맨디 라이즈 데이비스(Mandy Rice-Davies: 브리짓 폰다 분)라는 여자를 워드에게 소개시켜 두 사람은 워드를 따라 크리브덴의 한 호화로운 파티에서 유진 아이바노프(Eugene Ivanov: 제노엔 크라베 분)와 피터 라흐만(Peter Rachman: 조니 샤논 분), 존 프로퓨모(John Profumo: 이안 맥켈런 분), 아스터(Lord Astor: 레슬리 필립스 분) 등과 사귄다. 화려하게 치장한 크리스틴과 맨디는 고급 술집에서 남자들을 꼬시러 다니기도 하고, 워드는 크리스틴을 아이바노프에게 접근시켜 그가 러시아 스파이가 아닌가를 조사하게 하거나 럭키(Lucky Gordon: 레온 허버트 분)라는 흑인과 사궈 마리화나를 구해오기도 한다. 1962년 크리스틴은 자신을 두고 럭키와 싸우다 쫓기던 죠니(Johnnie Edgecombe: 롤랜드 기프트 분)가 총을 들고 워드의 집 앞에서 난사한다. 지위와 명성을 생각한 워드는 귀찮아진 크리스틴과 헤어진다. 크리스틴은 선데이지에 폭로하여 신문 1면에 기사가 실리고, 크리스틴과 관계된 이들은 그녀를 숨기기위해 휴가를 보내는데...

The TARDIS lands on the idyllic jungle world of Deva Loka, which is being surveyed for possible Earth colonisation. Deva Loka is already home to a race of apparent savages, however: a mysterious people with strange powers which have mentally unbalanced the members of the expedition. To make matters worse, an ancient enemy of the natives known as the Mara is intent upon revenge, and latches onto Tegan's mind as its bridgehead to victory.

Pauline, Petrova, and Posy Fossil live with Sylvia Brown, their guardian. Money is tight and as the story opens, three boarders - a garage owner, a retired English professor, and a dance teacher - come to stay. Theo Dane, the dance teacher, has the girls accepted at her school by the formidable Madame, and the three go on the stage to help raise money. Each discovers her talents - Pauline as an actress, Petrova in fixing engines, and Posy as a dancer.
