A group of six yuppies goes to Lantau for a fun holiday, and the result is anything but. The Chinese title—"The Evil Curse of the Burning Charcoal"—is more descriptive than the international title. The picture opens with a young lady's suicide by inhaling the carbon monoxide fumes of her charcoal burner and making big headlines in the tabloid press. The holiday-goers gossip about the news, little realizing that they are in danger of suffering the same fate.

The film opens with Jade Leung kills a few people - but when she accidentally threaten a young boy in the process in a square where she tries to save him, thereby allowing sufficient time for the police to arrest her and send her to imprisonment. There is a focus not only on her, she shares it with three other prisoners as she slowly befriends, and each of them given her own story and flashback on how she got there.

Just back from abroad, Brenda Lee helps out a friend by substitute teaching her mischievous class. The students are cold to her at first, but warm up to her as she helps them learn life's lessons. Essentially a remake of To Sir With Love [1967] (or maybe just a remake of To Miss With Love [1992]).

1978년 홍콩. 놀음 끝에 화가 난 왕지흥은 한 사내를 쓰러뜨리고 불 태워 죽인다. 1986년 마카오의 한 바닷가. 사람의 잘린 팔뚝이 발견되고 경찰이 수사에 나선다. 이 때 중국 본토에서 경찰서로 자신의 오빠, 정림을 찾아 달라는 편지가 날아온다. 토막시체로부터 지문을 채취하며 신원파악에 나서는 경찰들과 밤이면 늘 팔선반점에서 사기 도박을 하며 돈을 떼먹는 왕지흥. 이를 본 주방장은 여종업원과 왕지흥을 헐뜯고, 이를 본 왕지흥은 그날 저녁 주방장을 살해한 후, 뼈를 쓰레기 차에 버리고, 살은 만두 속으로 만들어 식당에 내놓는다. 사람고기인 줄은 꿈에도 모르고 맛있다고 아우성인 손님들. 정림의 동생으로부터 계속 실종을 알리는 편지가 날아오고, 이를 수상히 여긴 경찰팀은 마침내 팔선반점의 왕지흥을 만나 정림의 행방을 묻지만 그는 모른다고 잡아뗀다. 그날밤, 왕지흥 몰래 경찰에게 정림의 여동생으로부터 편지가 계속 왔었다는 사실을 알렸던 여종업원은 왕지흥에게 겁탈을 당하고 살해된다. 왕지흥을 수상히 여기고 팔선반점을 찾아간 경찰 리는 2층에서 정림의 가족 사진을 발견하고, 그가 정림과 그의 가족을 모두 살해했으리라 짐작한다. 잠복근무를 하며 왕지흥의 일거수일투족을 살피던 경찰팀은 쓰레기 더미 속에서 정림 가족의 여권 사진을 발견하고 그가 이민을 가장해 그들을 살해했다는 확신을 갖는다. 자백을 강요하지만 이를 강력히 부인하며 결코 자백하지 않은 왕지흥. 경찰의 구타에도 굴복하지 않는 그는 경찰서를 찾아온 기자들에게 도리어 경찰의 가혹행위를 비난한다. 경찰 반장 리는 그를 정림의 동생이 수감되어 있는 감옥소로 보내 온갖 구타와 협박 속에서 자백하도록 강요한다.

An abnormal taxi driver lusts for blood every rainy night, and several young women are killed as a result. The muderer, Laiu, likes to take photos of the victims dismembered bodies as momentos. Inspector Lee is called onto the case in this bizarre thriller.

주성치(Chow, Sing Sing)는 홍콩 기동타격대 반장으로 현직 경찰이다. 그는 경찰내에서 골치 덩어리이지만 뛰어난 머리와 무술 실력으로 그 존재를 인정받고 있다. 어느날 경찰 국장의 권총이 사라지고 권총의 행방이 고등학교 불량 학생들의 수중에 있다는 정보를 알아낸다. 국장은 주성치에게 자신의 총을 찾아달라는 부탁아닌 명령을 하고 우리의 주성치는 어쩔 수 없이 교복을 입고, 가방에는 영어, 수학 참고서를 넣고 아침마다 학교에 등교해야 하는 처량한 고등학생이 된다. 공부라면 질색인 우리의 주성치, 끔직한 학교 생활이 날마다 그를 기다리고 있다. 졸다가 얻어맞고, 장난치다가 두들겨 맞고, 숙제 안해와서 벌서고. 그의 일과는 대강 이렇게 진행된다. 그런 주성치에게도 임무 수행의 이유 외에 학교를 다녀야하게하는 이유가 생겼으니 그것은 바로 장민 여선생 때문이다. 자신의 부하 오맹달의 아들이라 서류 조작의 치욕을 감수하면서 열심히 학교에 다니는 주성치, 그에게도 꽃피는 봄은 오는데, 장민 선생의 특별 과외 지도 덕분에 성적은 오르고, 마음 속 사랑은 더욱 깊이 싹트고, 학생들에게는 선량한 학생들을 보호하는 정의의 두목으로 추앙받아, 주성치의 인기는 날로 급상승한다. 그러던 중 국장의 총을 훔친 범인은 다름아닌 학교 불량 학생들을 배후조정하는 장요양이라는 사실을 알아내는데 그는 무기를 밀매입하기도 하는 조직배이기도 하다. 드디어 주성치와 장요양 패거리들간의 대결은 시작된다. 주성치는 불법 무기 회수에 성공하나 그만 함께 간 오맹달을 적지에 떨구어 놓고 오는 불행사를 초래하게 된다. 의리의 사나이 주성치는 장요양에게 찾아가 무기를 돌려줄테니 오맹달을 놓아달라고 하고 들을 교환할 때 무기가 실린 차에 불을 질러 무기를 전소시켜버린다. 오맹달과 함께 학교로 도망쳐온 주성치와 그들을 쫓아온 장요양 일당은 서로 쫓고 쫓기는 추격전 중, 학생들이 설치해놓은 미로에 빠지고 만다. 우리의 두목 주성치를 돕겠다고 따라나선 학생들까지 합세하여 모두 미로 속을 헤매는데...

라마교의 종주는 인간세상을 구원하기 위해 환생할 것을 약속하며 사리를 남긴 채 스스로 소멸된다. 이 때 제자 중의 객석이 사리를 강탈하고 이를 저지하던 객농은 그것을 막지 못하고 부상만 입는다. 5년 후, 종주는 동자부처로 환생하게 되고 객농은 동자부처를 보호하기 위해 객석의 부하들과 피비린내 나는 사투를 벌이지만 끝내 죽음을 당한다. 할 수 없이 동자부처는 혼자 기차에 오르게 되고 우연히 소걸이라는 자와 만난다. 한편, 객농은 밤마다 나타나 동자부처에게 마법을 가르쳐주며 위험이 다가옴을 알려준다. 동자부처에게 시시각각 죽음의 위기가 닥쳐오자 객농은 제자 반탁에게 동자부처를 구해서 성전으로 모시라고 명한다. 이를 알아차린 객석은 반탁과 쫓고 쫓기는 추격전 끝에 동자부처를 빼앗아 가는데...
