유튜브나 페이스북의 초자연적인 동영상들은 모두 거짓이라 맹신하는 메리. 인터넷을 떠들썩하게 만든 동영상을 보고 자신의 졸업과제 주제로 쓰기 위해 카메라맨과 친구들을 데리고 동영상 속의 장소로 촬영을 하러 가기로 한다. 가는 도중 인터뷰를 했던 심령술사가 가지 말라고 경고도 했지만, 그조차 거짓이라 믿는 메리는 그녀가 마주할 끔찍한 미래는 알지 못한 채 독선적으로 친구들을 강요해 촬영을 진행한다.
