30년 전 끝내주는 음악을 위해 미래와 과거를 오갔지만 아무것도 만들어내지 못한 채 시간만 보내다 어느덧 중년이 된 빌과 테드. 그러던 중 그들과 시간여행을 했던 루퍼스의 딸이 나타나 700년 뒤 미래로 빌과 테드를 데려간다. 그리고 또다시 주어진 일생일대의 미션. 시간과 공간을 뛰어넘어 인류를 하나로 만들 노래를 만들어내지 못하면 80분 뒤 세상은 종말한다는 것. 발등에 불똥이 떨어진 빌과 테드는 미래의 자신들에게 미래의 음악을 찾아 또다시 시간여행을 시작한다.
