Billionaires Gnaw Their Tongues from the Pain aka Lost Leaders #22 is a handmade short film created in collaboration with sound artist Jackie Gallant. Billionaires… combines 16mm and 35mm found footage, hand-woven elements and DIY frame-by-frame scanning using a Lego-modded lightbox. The film is “inspired” by the hideous spectacle of the richest men in the world pretending to be astronauts. It takes a fuck-ton of hubris to strut around like latter day space “pioneers” while the world burns.

These questions and oh so much more are autobiographically answered by performance artist Dayna McLeod in this mash-up that mixes Anne Murray's, “You Needed Me” with the made-for-television Canadian classic, Anne of Green Gables. Originally commissioned as a performance piece for Anne Made Me Gay, curated by Moynan King and Rosemary Rowe, Buddies in Bad Times.

Julie, a Montréal teenager who lives alone in a vacant swimming pool spends her days following strangers. Abandoned by her father, she searches for the meaning of courage, love and desire in her observation of others. A longing for her father leads her to Hank, a lost guy from Alberta, who is seeking Véronique, an ex lover he ditched one night in Mexico. Intrigued by Hank’s obsession and the possibility of finding her father; Julie helps Hank in his quest.
