평화롭던 섬에 물고기가 잡히지 않기 시작하고, 배를 타고 나갔던 이들이 의문의 핏자국만 남긴 채 사라지기 시작한다. 해양 생물학자 샘은 이런 상황을 지켜보며 이전에 봤던 것과 같은 현상이 일어나고 있다는 것을 눈치채고 원인을 밝히려 한다. 정체를 알 수 없는 해양 생물의 습격은 계속되고, 사람들은 희생당한다. 과연 그 생물은 무엇이며, 이들은 섬을 무사히 빠져 나올 수 있을 것인가?
