1960년 알제리. 사막에서 사라진 비행기를 찾아나선 10인의 프랑스 수색대는 사막에서 비행기 잔해와 시신들을 발견하게 되고, 비밀문서가 든 가방을 챙겨 떠나려는 순간 알제리 저항군의 습격을 받아 2명이 죽는다. 알제리 저항군을 피해 비밀문서가 든 가방을 챙겨 귀환하던 수색대는 사막의 모래폭풍은 피했지만 길을 잃고 헤매다 낯선 마을에 들어서게 되는데....
