강제 수용소에서 해방된 9명의 아이들은 숲 속 버려진 저택으로 보내진다. 식량도, 옷도 마땅치 않던 그 곳에서 유일하게 아이들을 돌봐 줄 보모는 괴수에 의해 살해되고 저택은 괴수로 둘려 쌓여 아이들은 음식과 물도 없는 황무지에 갇힌다. 그러나 진짜 위험은 고아원 안에 도사리고 있다. 아이들은 전쟁을 겪어냈지만, 그들의 생존기는 이제부터 시작이다.
