에반스턴 고등학교에 다니는 에버는 친한 친구 탬라와 함께 체육 교사 로렌조가 감독하는 현장 학습을 위해 스쿨 버스에 탑승한다. 운동선수 대니가 평소처럼 랜들과 스티븐을 괴롭힌 후, 무언가와 충돌한 버스가 방향을 잃고 숲 속에 멈춰선다. 화학 공격을 받고 있다는 라디오 방송이 나오는 가운데 좀비처럼 보이는 낯선 존재가 버스 문을 연 로렌조의 얼굴을 물어뜯는다. 버스에서 탈출한 에버 등은 랜들을 따라 근처 버려진 건물로 대피한다. 에버, 랜들, 스티븐, 탬라, 대니, 제이시, 헌트 7명은 문과 통로를 막고 무기를 찾아 다가올 위험에 대비한다. 얼마 후, 건물 밖에서 캔디스가 잔인하게 살해당하고 라이언이 나타나 다른 학생들은 모두 좀비에게 당했다고 알린다. 좀비 떼의 습격으로 헌트에 이어 대니까지 사라진 후, 랜들은 좀비로 변한 운전사 웨인을 쓰러뜨리고 건물 안에 숨어 있자고 제안한다. 스티븐과 함께 휴대폰을 찾기 위해 버스로 간 에버는 지금 벌어지고 있는 좀비 공격이 꾸며진 일이라는 사실을 알게 되는데...

The story 1st involves a mother and daughter who were diagnosed with cancer six months apart (their journey) After death of the mother who waited too late to get help, the daughter dedicates her life to helping those who will and won't survive.
