살만칸 주연으로 중년의 전 레슬링 챔피언이 격투기 선수로 재기하기 위해 분투한다는 내용의 영화다. 이야기의 배경은 8년 전으로 거슬러 올라간다. 술탄(살만 칸)은 아르파(아누쉬카 샤르마)를 본 순간 그녀에게 첫눈에 반한다. 하지만 올림픽을 꿈꾸는 여자 레슬링 유망주인 아르파는 뛰어난 레슬링 선수에게만 마음을 허락하겠다며 술탄의 관심을 일체 거부한다. 술탄은 그런 그녀의 마음을 얻기 위해 레슬링에 뛰어들고, 각고의 노력 끝에 성공 가도를 달리며 그녀의 마음을 얻는 데 성공한다. 그런데 올림픽을 앞두고 아르파는 임신한 사실을 알게 되고 올림픽을 향한 자신의 꿈을 포기한다. 한편 술탄은 성공을 거듭하며 점차 오만해지는데, 술탄 없이 홀로 출산을 하게 된 아르파는 그의 부재로 수혈을 받지 못한 채 아이를 잃는 비극을 겪는다. 결국 아르파는 술탄에게 등을 돌리고, 자책감에 빠진 술탄도 선수 생활을 그만둔 채 은둔의 세월을 보내게 된다. 그렇게 8년의 세월이 지나고, 중년이 된 술탄은 잃어버린 인생과 사랑을 되찾기 위해 격투기 선수로서 새로운 도전을 시작한다.
