티니아는 겉으로 보이는 모습에 집착하는 어머니를 만족시키기 위해 필사적이다. 그는 어느 날 숲에서 다친 새를 발견하고, 기이하게 생긴 새알을 집으로 가져와 부화할 때까지 돌본다. 알에서 태어난 생명체는 티니아의 가장 친한 친구이자 살아 있는 악몽이 되어, 티니아를 완벽해 보이는 겉모습 아래의 뒤틀린 현실로 밀어 넣는다.

제2차 세계대전이 한창인 1940년대. 노르웨이 최고의 여배우 소냐는 노르웨이 국가판무관에게 접근해 정보를 빼주지 않으면 가족을 죽이겠다는 스웨덴의 협박을 받는다. 하지만 곧 소냐의 첩보 활동을 눈치챈 노르웨이 정부는 살고 싶다면 이중첩자가 되라고 명령한다.

Their friendship deepens when they begin to inspire downhearted people with public art, and comes to a head when they themselves have to blossom.
