Everything That Rises Must Converge is a hybrid documentary/fiction film. It follows four real-life adult film performers as they start their day at home, get in their cars and drive to work in a nondescript residential house in the San Fernando Valley in Southern California. In between documentary scenes, we also encounter several fictional characters whose stories revolve around the same residential house where the performers work. Shown as a grid of four simultaneous images, the film weaves scenes of everyday life with moments of beauty, as well as the strange and absurd moments of apparent convergence.

An ex-con Henry (Rick Schroder) returns to town after being released from prison and contacts his old college frat members about a murder that they committed years earlier. They have to return to move the body to a new location before it is uncovered by recent digging in the area. Now a lot older and bitter about going to prison Henry has planned revenge on his old friends.

헨리(Henry Turner : 해리슨 포드 분)는 아름다운 아내와 사랑스러운 딸을 가진 뉴욕의 성공한 변호사이다. 그러나 어느날 뜻하지 않은 사고로 헨리는 거의 식물인간 상태가 된다. 모든 것을 처음부터 시작해야 하는 헨리는 왕년의 축구선수 브래들리(Bradley : 빌 눈 분)의 눈물겨운 노력과 애정으로 조금씩 말도하고 걸을 수도 있게 되지만 아무 일도 처리 못하는 자신의 무능력으로 심적 괴롬움을 느낀다. 그러나 브래들리의 조언으로 힘을 얻은 헨리는 친한 친구들도 속으로는 그를 멀리하고 있다는 것을 알게 되고 설상가상으로 아내의 부정을 알게 된다. 하지만, 자신도 같은 사무실의 린다(Linda : 레베카 밀러 분)와 부정을 저질렀던 것을 듣게 되면서 헨리는 비로소 과거의 위선적이었던 자신의 모습을 깨닫는데...
