이별을 겪고 변화가 필요했던 기자 데이비드는 라트비아에 이사를 오며 만난 이웃 로버트와 친해진다. 둘이 함께 술집에 갔다가 돌아가는 길에 데이비드는 술에 취해 실수로 교통사고를 내고, 신고를 하지 않은 채 달아난다. 로버트의 제안으로 둘은 이 사고를 묻어버리려 하지만, 데이비드는 다음 날 참석한 뺑소니 기자 회견에서 자신이 죽인 여자의 언니와 만나게 된다. 범죄가 들통날까 불안해하는 그를 위해 로버트는 증거를 인멸하며 도가 넘는 친절을 보이고, 점점 집착하는데... 과연 절친한 이웃 로버트의 속내는 무엇인가?

By chance, Louise and Kaspars meet on a trip to celebrate Midsummer’s Eve. She’s running away from annoying neighbours and general sense of pointlessness; he’s running away from a failing marriage. They’re both young, talented, and lost; they both want to become artists; they’re both unsure how to go on about their lives. Maybe that’s why their shared trip turns into a strange, sometimes funny and sometimes complicated journey through a relationship over the course of three years.

Hardly anyone would have predicted that Žanis Lipke would miraculously become a hero. He was a completely ordinary Latvian blue-collar worker. In order to be able to support his family under wartime conditions, he worked at the German military aviation warehouses and supplemented his income by smuggling at night. This film attempts to answer the question whether Žanis’ courage stems from his adventurous and daring spirit, stubbornness, or a sense of responsibility towards people in need.
